In 2018 over 150 volunteers travelled to Belarus to part-take in CARE Camps in both Cherven and Gorodishche Orphanages. It was one of our busiest years to date and the momentum of the past few years is showing no signs of letting up with 2019 shaping up to be yet another very busy year for Burren Chernobyl Project.
CARE camps is our largest volunteer programme at the moment. Realising and understanding the basic human needs of interaction, camaraderie, sensory stimulation, conversation, all the things we take for granted and taking action has brought the quality of life of these children forward leaps and bounds. 

​This past week three intellectual disability  nurses  travelled to  Belarus to spend some quality time with the children and young adults of Cherven Orphanage. After a long cold winter the girls were  welcomed with open arms. Alyson, Taylor and Bridgette returned to Belarus and brought the warmth of spring with them. The love and the joy these ladies brought to the children was evident from the big smiles on every face. 
They had a jam-packed week, busy with so many activities and making sure to spend time with everyone. They even paid the residents of Yazovki Adult Asylum a visit.
