2023 marks thirty years of Burren Chernobyl Project. Over the past thirty years we have carried out hundreds of projects helping children, families and communities across Belarus. We have had hundreds of volunteers assist with projects in both Ireland and Belarus, from hosting children in Ireland, gathering humanitarian aid, loading trucks, running fundraisers, volunteering in orphanages running Care camps, medical teams providing essential care and improving quality of life, teams of builders carrying out renovations and new builds and so much more.

This year we set out a goal of completing 30 projects to mark 30 years of Burren Chernobyl Project. These projects range from small, smile inducing to big, life changing projects, medical and kitchen equipment to sports and recreational equipment to respite and much more in between. Over the next weeks and months we hope to share with you our progress on reaching this goal.
One of the projects carried out over the summer was assisting some young people in adjusting to independent life in Frunzenskaya. These young people are orphans that have been given flats to live independently in once they reach eighteen. These flats or small dorms are just empty shells with no basic furniture or equipment. Beginning independent life as a young person with no familial support structure is extremely difficult. We have helped several of these young people over the years. We visit the young people and ask what they need, their requests are always minimal and received with great thanks. This year we provided Sasha, Kristina, Dima, Daniel and Nadia with some basic but essential items such as kettles fridges, tables, cups. A particular thank you to BCP volunteers Don and Joanne O'Sullivan for their donation making this project possible for these young people.
We have lots more projects to share and still many to achieve.
We are grateful for all your support. If you can, please donate what you can by clicking the Donate Now button. All donations are processed securely and will go directly to these projects. |
