Hi there folks, apologies for the lack of posting online. Rest assured the work is still ongoing in the background both in Ireland and Belarus. Thanks to your support, Burren Chernobyl Project and our office in Minsk, Dobra Tut have been helping several orphanages, adult asylums and Social Services Centres across Belarus. Below is a little update on some of the equipment we have been sourcing. |

Through our office in Minsk (Dobra Tut) we were able to send funds to purchase whatever PPE was available and to get it to the eleven orphanages looking for help. Aid also went to Social Service Centres and to vulnerable individuals living at home. Thanks to Tamara and Lena for keeping it all going and risking their own health in helping others.
Cherven - had over forty cases and children were moved to various hospitals to isolate. That was difficult on them in a new environment. Now the situation has stabilised thank god and all the children are back in Cherven. Some staff were very sick including doctors but they are back now feeling better and working hard. However, the Director really fears a second wave.
Back in early March when Covid first hit, BCP sent money directly to Cherven for PPE which enabled them buy what they needed as the need became critical and time was of the essence. This included the items listed below as well as contactless thermometers, gowns, masks, gloves, soaps, etc.
Gorodishche - Have thankfully kept the virus at bay, thanks to the proactive and diligent work of the director and staff. They have been working in two week shifts which are very tiring and intense but without a doubt has helped keep the vulnerable children safe. Before the staff come on shift they are tested which has found some cases, these staff members stay away till they are well again.
Kyl - this adult place with over five hundred service users has had over one hundred cases of Covid so needed a huge amount of help. They are still fighting daily.
Svir - another adult place up north has unfortunately lost some residents and staff to Covid. Svir is in the ‘red’ area for the virus. It is in the tourist area about three hours north of Minsk.
Tarasiki, Pukhavichi, Rakov, Kopyl, Yazovki and others all needed help and BCP provided what was possible. A truckload of sanitary and incontinence goods as well as PPE was sent from our base in Ennistymon is now being dispersed to cope with the ongoing needs.

Oxygen Concentrators
Burren Chernobyl Project has arranged the purchase of these Oxygen Concentrators for several orphanages.
The advantage of the Concentrator is that you will always have oxygen as it is taken from the air. Oxygen ventilators need kegs of oxygen and having a supply in some places would be difficult so the concentrators should be of great use.

We don’t know when this pandemic will be over and we can return safely to visit our friends but in the meantime let’s keep doing what we can to help keep everyone safe and well.
Thank you for all your support.
Stay safe and well!
