Have you ever wanted a piece of art or a handwritten quote from a famous celebrity or artist? Well the people of Bandon attending a book launch in Bandon Grammar School recently were in for a treat. There was some fantastic artwork on display and some very big names from design, film, sport and TV were involved. The best part of it all, was the money raised for BCP's projects in Belarus. |
There was a very exciting event held in Co. Cork recently. Bandon Grammar School was launching a book about the extensive and interesting history of the school with many in attendance including Mr Graham Norton!
BCP volunteer and teacher, Rosie Devoy Pullin organised a fantastic fundraiser at the event with many big Irish and international names getting involved. Names such as Philip Treacy, Helena Bonham Carter, Louise O'Neill, Francis Black, Conor Hourihane, Mundy and many more.

The concept of the fundraiser was a secret exhibition. Celebrities, artists, pupils of Bandon Grammar School and even some children from Gorodisiche Orphanage, Belarus all took part. Blank postcards were transformed into wonderful pieces of art. With over 300 pieces on display, it really was quite the spectacle! It was a "Secret Exhibition" because, it wasn't until the end, when you collected your postcard did you find out who had created your piece. The back had a note and the signature from the artist and there was lots of excitement when people began collecting them. Graham Norton, gave us a big plug in his speech at the event and was very interested and supportive of the work we are doing.
Thank you so so much to each and every one of the artists who took the time to create their piece for us.
A big thank you to all the staff and students involved in organising the event. To the students who made and sold ceramic Christmas decorations and to the wood work students who built the amazing wooden Christmas trees that were also sold in aid of Burren Chernobyl Project.
Thank you all for a fantastic event and the much needed funds that were raised.
Go riabh míle maith agaibh.
