People often ask if things are improving in the orphanages. And the answer is absolutely, things are much better. Problems that could be solved have been solved. This year we are helping build a house for supported living, a workshed; providing aid to ten adult orphanages and two children's ones. We also sent three truckloads for distribution to needy people; over one hundred and thirty volunteers travelled, as well as all the ongoing projects we are supporting.
I often wonder why so many people get involved and why so many people travel out. “Where seldom is heard a discouraging word” is a line from a song, Home on the Range, sung beautifully by Bryn Trefel in concert in New York. How often we can have our courage taken from us by some word that just takes the power from our plans! Maybe this is why people go - that there, seldom is heard a discouraging word; everything is encouraged, everyone is a wise person bringing their own gifts and no-one is ever unwelcome. There is always room.
We have been blessed again with another brilliant year of work and effort, volunteers and fundraising, donations and support. Thanks to everyone.
As always we wish to say thanks to all our sponsors, to all who donate goods and funds to us and to all who help with fund-raising as well as our many volunteers.
A special thanks in 2019 to Bernard Lucas and the Caitríona Lucas Foundation for nominating BCP as their chosen charity and the recipients of funds from their concert and their Arctic Trek Challenge during the year. These funds are all helping complete Project 265, the house for supported living in Gorodishche orphanage. Well done to you all and many thanks!
Wishing everyone success, health and happiness in 2020.
С новым годом. Nollaig Shona.
