Our Volunteer Spring/Summer 2017 Program is in full swing
Since early April we've had multiple groups of volunteers travelling to Belarus to spend time with the children and young adults with disabilities in both Gorodishche and Cherven.
There's been a hive of activity as these groups arrive with boundless energy and never ending love. A large number of new volunteers have been travelling and with them bringing new ideas. It's the start of another very busy summer here at Burren Chernobyl Project. Thank you all to our volunteers and supporters. |
Finding Banni nominated for European Award
Finding Banni is a documentary about a boy in Gorodishche, Belarus. BCP brought him to Ireland where the Flynn family raised him as one of their own.
It has been nominated for a European Television Award. If you missed the documentary in November it will be repeated on Wednesday May 31st on RTÉ One. Well done to Colm Flynn on the nomination and thank you for sharing the story of Banni and so many others like him. #findingbanni 🌻 |

TRUCK LOADING DAY 4TH FEBRUARY 2017 @ 09:30
Hi all!
Our next load of humanitarian aid is set to depart to Belarus this Saturday.
There has been a huge cry from the adult asylums for aid so for this load we are focusing on ADULT CLOTHES and ADULT PAMPERS
If you wish to donate these please ensure they are in strong bags/boxes as sometimes the weaker bags burst when full. Please also keep shoes separate.
If you are free this Saturday morning we'd love the extra help. It'll be all hands on deck from 09:30 at the Monastery in Ennistymon with a cuppa and some sandwiches when all the hard work is done. Spread the word. Spasiba 🌻

3rd December - UN International Day of People with Special Needs
The theme for this year’s International Day is “Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want”. This theme notes the recent adoption of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the role of these goals in building a more inclusive and equitable world for persons with disabilities.
We all deserve to be included and treated equally. Help break down disability barriers and celebrate abilities. Click here for a beautiful account of a concert in Kyl Adult Asylum by Br. Liam O'Meara |
RTÉ2 Documentary - Finding Banni
Wednesday 30th of November, RTÉ2 will air a documentary called Finding Banni.
This documentary was filmed in Belarus this summer where the presenter Colm Flynn visited Banni. Banni, one of the residents at Gorodishche, was part of his family as a young child where he thrived under their love and care. Sadly the family were unable to adopt Banni and he has spent most of his life at Gorodishche. Not to be missed! |
